quiet times with Jesus…

I still remember going to a Christian girls conference when I was eleven where I heard the speaker passionately talk about spending time in God’s word everyday.  I was so convicted.  I knew that I couldn’t truly have a strong relationship with God if I didn’t spend time with Him!

It took me a while (two years actually) to fully get into the habit of spending time with Jesus each morning, but oh my goodness what a blessing this habit has been!  My relationship with Christ has truly been deepened, and taken to places I never thought it could go.

Today, I want to share with you some wonderful ways to make the most out of your time with Jesus each day!

1. Have your quiet time as soon as you wake up!

Start your morning off in the presence of your King!  It’s so refreshing to be able to start off the day in the word of God and in prayer…that way I’m able to put on the full armor of God before I head into my day.  I love to get up while it’s still dark, grab a cup of coffee, and then delve into the truths of God’s word.

2. Meditate

While studying and reading large portions of the Bible can be super beneficial, I think it’s so important to just sit in the presence of God, and soak in specific verses. Psalms 1:2 says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates, day and night.” I often will chose a certain Psalm, or any other passage or book of scripture, to go through, a verse a day, and just spend a few minutes (or as long as I need) thinking on that verse, and thinking of how I can apply it that day.

3. PRAY!!!

Prayer is sooooooooooo important. Like, I can’t even stress how important it is!  I love to keep a prayer journal with a list of certain prayer requests. Every time a request is answered, I check it off, and then praise God for his provision!  When I first started praying every day and keeping a prayer journal, I immediately noticed very specific prayers being answered. It was so cool to see how God does hear us when we ask!  Now God isn’t always going to answer us immediately…but he does promise us in His word that he will answer us, in His own timing.

4. Highlight and take notes

I love highlighting and underlining certain verses or passages that stand out to me.  I also have started writing little notes in the margins of my Bible.  If I notice something really cool about a certain verse, or God shows me something, I write it down! It’s so fun to look back on all the times the Lord revealed to me an important truth in His word.

I really hope this has inspired you to start doing a quiet time daily! And if you already are in the habit of doing it, I hope this has given you a few ideas of ways to spend it. My times with Jesus can be (and often are) the best part of my day! He blesses me and fills me with joy each morning as I come and sit in His presence…and I absolutely, positively know He’ll do the same for you!

Love,

Grace
